As I mentioned a couple of days ago, there are many interesting Firefox Add-ons. I will tell you about those I use and what they are good for. Of cause there are many thousands more.
Adblock Plus (ABP):
Ads were yesterday (MUST HAVE!!!).
blocks all type of commercial, adds and pop-ups. This causes pages to load faster, because they don’t have to load stuff you don’t want and you have to scroll less since it frees the space were the ads were.
with ABP deactivated (left) and activated(right):

ChatZilla:
A clean, easy to use and highly extensible Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client.
ChatZilla is a nice, well working chat client that can be opened in a Firefox tab and thereby frees space on your task-bar. To open ChatZilla in a tab bookmark this: chrome://chatzilla/content/chatzilla.xul
Fasterfox
Performance and network tweak add-on.
Fasterfox can greatly increase page load time which can be even increased by the customized options, but don’t touch them if you don’t know what you are doing. To see the speed you get a nice page time loader at the bottom right.
FireFTP
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Client for Mozilla Firefox.
FireFTP lets you upload and download files to and from and to a FTP server. I use it to add new programs to my web-space were this blog is hosted.
FoxTab
3D tab management – your top sites, tabs flipping and recently closed tabs.
My newest add-on, it helps me keep track of my add-ons when I have some more open, like 20+. The way they are displayed can be changed to the way you like it.
German Dictionary / English Dictionary
Spelling correction
Works with everything I write: my blog posts, browser game, E-Mail over web-mail, etc. Good for people who’s spelling sucks as much as mine does
.
GoogleSharing
privatize Google requests
I posted about it some time ago: http://thinking-aloud.eu/2010/05/google-sharing-firefox-addon/
GreaseMonkey
A User Script Manager for Firefox.
Lets you customize sites in many ways, I exclusively use it for a browser game called Ogame, but there are MANY scrips that can be downloaded from http://userscripts.org/
SearchPreview
Inserts web site previews in Google, Yahoo and Bing search results.
A nice picture that often helps me to see what page I will visit.
